Blog for the original Marty

Oh look, the Rathbun House…

Dearest Marty, my awesome prince, I am thinking of you. How are you?

I had more visitors, various handymen today and some more might come in the next days, for me to find out what needs to be fixed and how much it will cost me. As expected, the prices vary greatly. One who gave me an outrageous price wants to be every day in my house for at least a month. Haha! I don’t think so! Some guys are bums, and I hope they lose my phone number, others seem to be calculating business men. But I am getting there. In the next couple of days, I will hire one, once I understood exactly what the problem is. The estimated prices that I was told vary from USD 200.– to USD 6000.— Unbelievable, isn’t it? And one wanted to drill a hole for free in my floor. But yet another one told me that I should not allow anyone to drill in my walnut flooring because that’s rare and very expensive.

Something else, Marty, Kirstie Alley sure came far as a celeb dancer on the show. She dropped 4 dress sizes and did an acrobatic number in her freestyle at the end and won 2nd price.

Late night shows made constantly fun of her and she sure got her revenge by losing four dress sizes and being such a great dancer and looking beautiful and fit. She beat Chelsea Kane, who is very young and very talented with her excellent choreographer Mark Ballas. I think all three couples that were left deserved the trophy because all three of them were excellent. Chelsea is almost 40 years younger than Kirstie and Kirstie did beat her. Unbelievable. Anti-Scientologists don’t like to hear it but normal people don’t hate Scientologists as they do.

It’s amazing what she accomplished in just a few weeks. Here is her freestyle:

Bruno Tonioli said, “Honest truth [is that] ten weeks ago I would never have thought of you even attempting to do lifts and things you’ve done tonight. You have to really appreciate what you’ve achieved.” And then, as if as an afterthought, this rambunctious ballroom critic added, “Respect, girl, respect.”

Then Carrie Ann Inaba told Dancing with the Stars contender Kirstie Alley, “That dance embodies you… a poster child for life as it should be lived at 60 years old.”

Finally, it was Len Goodman’s turn. This sometimes grumpy Brit reported to the oldest contestant left on the TV talent show, “You took risks, and you gotta risk it if you want the biscuit. I commend you. Well done.”

Kym Johnson and Hines Ward, an athlete won. And I love Kym’s pick of music and chorography. I am glad she doesn’t do crazy moves anymore because she had a scary neck injury doing that. Look how wonderful that is. It starts at 1:32. What a fun it is!

Some Scientology haters say that Kirstie got so far because Scientologists called to vote for her. If they did, how come Pricilla Presley made it just to the mid of the show? And she could dance too.

Kristi really deserved being one of the top dancers and what a triumph for her after people ripped through her dignity for so long.

When we are back together, Marty, we will dance also whenever we can. I know you have the dancer inside of you, and so do I. 🙂

Many kisses my darling,

Forever yours,

  1. SP Times says that middle aged women like Kirsty Alley are the core audience of DWST. She is 60 years old… She looks like middle age or even younger but is she middle aged? Cool, she’ll live to be 120. Respect girl, respect!

    • No, she isn’t middle aged. Aubrey de Grey says that the first people who will be 1000 years old are already born. Compared to that, Kirstie is still in diapers.

  2. Here is Kirstie Alley’s Twitter!/KirstieAlley

She’s impersonated and wants to sue her impersonator.

  3. What an achievement for Kirstie! More people voted for her than for Chelsey! Who would have thought?

    • Unbelievable, isn’t it? I think all three of the last couples standing deserved the trophy.

How can you even find a winner when one is a woman and one is a male? I think that it is harder for the celeb women to win, they have to dance in high heels and most attention is on them. But Hines is really a good dancer. He deserved the trophy too.

Chelsea is really gifted. That Harry Potter walz but also her other dances were really amazing. I hope she never stops dancing.

  4. Guess that middle aged female core audience wants to see 20 year old Romeo dancing his heart out.

I think the SP Times wants to know all by knowing little.

The DWST audience in the TV studio is full with applauding men. How did they get in there? 😉

  5. There are rumors that it is the most successful TV show EVER! All women? Nah, guys who like music and rhythmic movements watch it too. Football players watch it, rappers watch it but male couch potato reporters don’t watch it.

    A guy!

  6. DWST is the most popular TV show for ALL people. It is like the Harry Potter books and attracts all people who love music and dance.

    • This competition is notoriously won by young athletes and not by middle aged women. And that should give a hit who is watching and voting. Kirstie was the first who came that far. The SP Times reporters who wrote that article are talking nonsense.

  7. Smart move, Barbara, calling as many contractors for free estimates and pick the best for the job. You’re anything but helpless, aren’t you?
